Arpon-Dorpon Memorial Foundation (ADMF)

Arpon-Dorpon Memorial Foundation (ADMF) is a non-profit, non-political, and women-led voluntary organization. It was founded by Mr. Md. Rashadul Islam, a former Secretary (Grade-1) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and his wife, Professor Sharmina Parvin. The couple established the foundation in memory of their two sons, Shadman Absar Arpon and Adnan Rashed Dorpon, who passed away in 1992 and 1994, respectively.

Driven by the belief that their sons would have contributed to the betterment of society, they initiated their philanthropic journey by establishing the Arpon-Dorpon Memorial Library in 2009 in the village of Muktarpur under Chougachha Upazila of Jashore district. Funded personally by the founders, the library was created as a tribute to their children, aiming to promote public welfare and self-enlightenment. Since its inception, the library has provided reading opportunities to the local community alongside limited public welfare initiatives.

In 2016, the Arpon-Dorpon Memorial Foundation was formally registered as a non-profit, non-political voluntary organization under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 (Registration No. S-12301/2016), incorporating the Arpon-Dorpon Memorial Library as a core component of the foundation. Further expanding its scope, the organization obtained registration from the NGO Affairs Bureau in January 2022 under the Foreign Donations (Voluntary Activities) Regulation Act, 2016 (Registration No. 3285), reinforcing its commitment to public service and community development.
